Choreographed by Gweneth Lloyd in 1947, Chapter 13 was part of the "new wave" at the Winnipeg Ballet: the non-classical style was emerging on the frontiers. The work was originally set to Gershwin, rescored by Robert Fleming in 1948. David's role in this scene was, as it would be so often, front and centre. It's the end of the ballet; he's the cop, and he's dead. As David said, "Lloyd tried everything."
