Volkova, Vera (1904 - 1975), English/Russian dancer and pedagogue. Miss Volkva studied the Vaganova method at the Imperial Academy of Dance and the Russian Choreographic School of Volynskij. After performing in Japan and China she taught at Goncharov's School of Dance in Shanghai, while continuing to dance. In 1936 she moved to London, where she operated her own studio, the International school of Ballet as well as teaching for the Sadler's Wells Ballet from 1943 to 1950. In 1951 she became Artistic Adviser to the Danish Royal Ballet in Copenaghen. She later became a professor at the Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory in Russia. | |
