Well now, where did that clean-cut young couple go? Just like the Beatles, sometimes David and Lois had to let down their hair: the nation's most glamorous pair cut up the floor for the papparazi. Also he was a major, if not principal resource in the setting of classical repertoire. Ballet, both like and unlike other forms of theatre, requires the talents and input from many people to create mature performances. Although one artist may be given credit as "choreographer", other dancers are recognized for having created "roles" as David did for the Metropolitan in Design With Strings. David, with his London experience, was foremost among the National Ballet's "choreographic assistants" during his time.
